Down South and Way Out West

I love shooting weddings. It’s an adrenaline rush.

There’s a really high energy with a lot going on and you have to keep super focused. Then there’s the other side. Which usually shows itself somewhere between “I do” and reception.

It’s much more calm. Relieved. People are laughing, joking and having an amazing time with family and friends. It’s that rare time where you can finally catch up with your long lost mate in person as opposed to that Facebook relationship we all now have.

At the start of 2015 I was asked to photograph and film a friends wedding in Tasmania. It was that perfect opportunity not only to photograph Ryan and Bianca on their special day in a stunning location, but to catch up with all those friends I hadn’t seen in a long time.

The trip down to Tassie was epic. Catching up with good friends and having conversations like we were back in school again. Congratulations again Ryan and Bianca. It was a wedding I won’t forget.

Shortly after Tassie it was over to Western Australia to photograph an old Caloundra panthers footy mate tie the knot in Margaret River.

The wedding was sensational to say the least. The weather, venue, guests. It was all class. Thanks for having me Az and Jadie – was so cool to see you guys and WA for the first time.

Shortly after the wedding I caught up with a friend I met in Sri Lanka – Dicko. Dicko is a Margaret River local, surfer, wine tour bus driver, larrikin and legend. If you ever get to Margaret River go on the wine tour called ‘Margies Big Day Out’ and ask for Dicko – It’s a quintessential Margaret River experience.

From Way out West it was back to my old stomping ground – Maffra, Victoria.

This was a special one. I was asked to photograph child hood friend Ally Sage and her high school sweet heart Matt ‘Wiggo’ Elston on their wedding day. I jumped at the chance. In the days leading up to the wedding rain started to fall and so did the temperature. When it came to the big day however, the sun came out from behind the clouds and the stage was set for a magic day.

Wiggo had this grin on his face all day. Loving it.
